TRMS PTSA

Thomas Russell Middle School Parent, Teacher and Student Association (PTSA) is a group of parents and staff members working along with students to enhance the Russell school community. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

What does PTSA do at TRMS?

Through the generous support of our community and through our pledge drive, the PTSA is able to sponsor a number of events. We would not be able to help the school without your membership and tax-deductible donations. To donate, fill out the Pledge form and return it to the school with your payment. You can also donate online via Paypal.

How to Join PTSA?

Membership is $15 per person + $1 online processing fee.  Joining PTSA does not require you to volunteer or attend meetings. We will only contact parents who have expressed an interest in volunteering on an as-needed basis. 

1. Go to https://jointotem.com/ca/milpitas/russell-ptsa.

2. Login with an existing Totem account or register for a new account.

3. After completing your info, click "Add a Member/Student".

4. Enter your student’s name so they can receive their membership prize. Select "Student" if your student wants to join PTSA. Select "Student (Non-Member)" if your student does not want to join PTSA. 

5. Select your student's grade and homeroom teacher (choose “Unknown” if you don’t know).

6. Add comments into the “Note” field if you are interested in volunteering.

7. Click “Save”.

8. Click “Add a Member/Student" to add additional PTSA members (spouse, grandparents, etc) under the same Totem account.

9. Click “Next” to check out and pay with a credit or debit card.

Alternatively, you can go to the school office and complete the PTSA membership envelope and enclose payment by check or cash in person. There is no processing fee for in-person payments. Please make checks payable to “Thomas Russell Middle PTSA”.

How Can You Help?

• Join PTSA - Membership is $15.

• Donate to PTSA by filling out the Pledge Drive form and returning it to school with your donation (check or cash). You can also donate online via Paypal (2.89% of your donation will be deducted by Paypal to cover Administrative costs).

• Check if your company has a Matching Donation Program. Go to Charity Navigator, enter your company name, then click on “Let’s Check”.

• Shop at Amazon Smile and designate "5357 Thomas Russell Middle PTSA" as your charity. There is no extra cost and Amazon will give back 0.5% of qualified purchases to TRMS PTSA.

• Volunteer to help at activities.

• Teachers need supplies, especially copy paper, disinfectant wipes, and tissues. Check with them what they need throughout the school year.
